Speaker Series Episode 4: Dr. Tatiana Foroud, Executive Associate Dean for Research Affairs @ Indiana University

Dr. Tatiana Foroud spoke about her more than 27 years with IU School of Medicine, where she has been actively involved in the genetics of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease as well as studies of alcoholism and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders.

Speaker Series Episode 3: Julie Xie, Flight Systems Engineer @ NASA JPL

Julie Xie spoke about her experience working as a Flight Systems Engineer at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Boeing. She is currently working on REASON (Radar for Europa Assessment and Sounding: Ocean to Near-surface) for the Europa Clipper mission and on DAR (Dynamic Atmospheric Radar) for the INCUS (INvestigation of Convective UpdraftS) mission.

 

Speaker Series Episode 2: Dr. Xue-Jun Kong, Internal Medicine Specialist & Autism Researcher

Xue-Jun (June) Kong, MD, an internal medicine specialist, the Director of the SYNAPSE Program, an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, spoke about her autism research team. Inspired by her son’s journey with autism, her research projects aim to achieve a better understanding of early detection, clinical subgrouping, evidence-based and target treatments of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Speaker Series Episode 1: Dr. Angela Fleischman, Hematologist @ UC Irvine

Dr. Angela Fleischman, a physician-scientist at the University of California, leads an independent laboratory group focusing on the pathogenesis of myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN). She spoke about her STEM journey: from receiving her MD and PhD from Stanford to her current role investigating hematologic malignancies and integrating her research with the clinical care of patients with these diseases.
